  • Monday December 3, 2007. In spite of the strong winds, a few gulls were flying right into it. Needless to say, progress was very slow, if at all. Sunday night's winds delivered a whole new crop of foam and logs on the beach. The storm surge brought waves up to and over the banks. Without power, and only local phone sevice (cell service was out too) the town was pretty well closed down. Monday December 3. The storm raged all night and continues during the day. Many trees came down during the night. Winds reach 100+ mph. Not all that unusual for the north Oregon Coast, but to contunue for two days was quite unusual. Electrical power is out. Cannon Beach, Oregon USA

  • Monday December 3, 2007. With the winds still blowing hard, gulls hunker down out of the wind just north of Kramer Point. The storm raged all night and continues during the day. The surging surf has washed away more sand leaving exposed rocks. Many trees came down during the night. Winds reach 100+ mph. Not all that unusual for the north Oregon Coast, but to continue for two days was quite unusual. Electrical power is out. Cannon Beach, Oregon USA

  • Monday December 3, 2007. This pelican was having problems too. He joined the gulls for a brief time before braving the wind again and flying away.
